What is a rubber top coat?

A rubber top coat gel is a strong, thick top coat for nails. It can help strengthen nails and provide durability. The rubber top gel is recommended for those with sensitive nails and skin as it is HEMA-free and helps add strength for clients with weak or brittle nails.

It is also ideal for encapsulating glitter and building the last layer of nail extension. To finish gel manicures, apply a thicker layer and allow it to self-level before curing. Applying gems to nails is easy when using a rubber top coat! Simply use a fine brush, and apply a thin layer of rubber top coat around the gemstones to hold them in place.

What is the difference between the original rubber top coat and the 2.0?

Both rubber top coats seal the nail gel underneath, strengthen nails, and offer a refined finish to your client’s manicures. The key difference is that the new and improved formula for the Rubber Top Coat 2.0 is HEMA-free. HEMA is a chemical used to make different types of polymers, which can cause irritation or an allergic reaction. Our nail gels and polishes are made with less than 20% HEMA and include a nail collection dedicated to HEMA-free products. The suggested limit of HEMA is 30-35%, so our products are below the standard.

How do you apply the rubber top coat gel?

The HEMA-free gel top coat applies like polish and cures in an LED/UV lamp in 60 seconds. Afterward, you don't need to use any cleansers or alcohol — simply apply your favorite cuticle oil to moisturize the skin around your nails, and you're good to go!

How do you remove the rubber top coat?

When removing a rubber top coat, it is important to remove one nail at a time and not force the gel off. You will need to file the nails with the TGB 120/180 grit file (or a TGB Portable E-File if you are trained). For a more in-depth gel removal process, refer to our guide.

Can rubber gel top coats be used to strengthen nails?

Yes! Our rubber gel top coat can help strengthen and protect your nails. This is done by reinforcing the nails with hard, durable layers of gel. It acts as a barrier between the nails and external damage from bumping, ripping, tearing, or using other chemicals from day-to-day activities. Pair this rubber top coat with our Rubber Base Coat for even stronger, happier nails.

Is the rubber top coat gel cruelty-free?

Yes! Our rubber top coat nail polish is vegan and cruelty-free. Our gel polishes do not use animal byproducts or testing, and all our products are Leaping Bunny certified. This is great to have in your salon or nail tech kit for clients who use vegan gel polish.

Is the HEMA-free top coat for professionals only?

Our products are currently available for professionals only. If you would like your nail service to include TGB Rubber Top Coat 2.0, ask your salon or your nail technician if they have The GelBottle Inc products. If you would like to become a nail technician/or learn gel polish application yourself, we have amazing beginner courses available!
